BBL Championship points are at stake at the Commonwealth Arena today when the Rocks host Worcester Wolves in front of the Sky Sports TV cameras.
The Rocks are ninth in the table with a 1-4 record, but have played the joint lowest number of games, while Wolves are fourth having won five of their nine Championship match-ups so far.
Wolves won all three meetings between the two sides last season on the way to their best ever BBL Championship season, but it is the Rocks who lead the all-time series between the clubs 14-6.
Rocks’ coach Sterling Davis is impressed with the team Wolves have put together: “I think they are really solid team with incredible size. They are pretty balanced right now and I feel will get better as the season goes along.
“Alex Owumi has been deadly from the three point line this year. He is definitely a guy you have to be aware of at all times.”
Andrew Wedemire is looking forward to playing another home game at the impressive Emirates Arena, but knows that Wolves will pose a tough test: “The new venue is really great. The pure size of the arena is astonishing and can be overwhelming at times but you don’t get a playing experience like that in any other place in the BBL.
“The Wolves have been very impressive this year so far putting together some really good wins. So it’s expected that we have to perform well on both of the games coming up this week. It is disappointing that we didn’t play last week. You want to build momentum but it becomes hard when you have weeks in between games.”
Wolves’ coach Paul James has praise for the Rocks player coach and his team: “I have not seen too much of Glasgow, but they have been well lead by Sterling Davis over the past few seasons and this one will be no different.
“EJ Harrison is back to full fitness this season after an injury prone one last time term. He looks to be running the show for the Rocks at the moment.”
Tickets are still available for the game on the door, and don’t forget to set your Sky+ for Tuesday at 5:30PM on Sky Sports 4 to see the whole game on TV!
