Surrey Heat 76 (14,34,51) (C Holmes 20, F Holmes 18, Cricelli/Joseph 10)
Glasgow Rocks 82 (21,43,61) (Achara 24, Harrison 22, Davis 10)

The Glasgow Rocks kept up their recent good run of form as they picked up their fifth BBL Championship victory with a 76-82 victory over the Surrey Heat at Surrey Sports Park on Sunday afternoon.

A 10-1 start to the game from the Rocks saw the visitors explode out of the blocks, but this only saw to spur the Heat on as they responded with a 9-2 burst of their own to trim the deficit back to two points at 10-12 with four minutes left in the opening period. The visitors managed to keep their noses in front for the remainder of the quarter with a Kieron Achara three-point-play taking their lead back out to nine points at 12-21, but a Peter Simek basket for the Heat left the home side trailing by seven points at 14-21 at the end of the opening stanza.

In the second quarter, both sides traded baskets for the majority of the period and a further Simek basket trimmed the gap back to three points at 28-31 with less than three minutes remaining in the half. That was as close as the Heat would get before the half as another Achara three-point-play saw the Rocks heading into the locker rooms leading 34-43 at the half.

In the second half, a Frank Holmes basket trimmed the deficit back to 47-52 midway through the third quarter. Once again however, the home side could not get themselves any closer as an Achara three-pointer sparked a 9-4 finish for the Rocks as they headed into the final stanza leading 51-61.

In the final quarter, the Heat opened with a 11-2 start to get themselves back to within a point at 62-63 with 6:11 left in the contest, but a Sterling Davis three-pointer kept the Rocks on track and themselves in front as they held off a resilient Heat outfit.

The home side tried desperately to get themselves back into the game, but they could not get closer than four points at 72-76 with 44 seconds remaining in the game. The Rocks maintained their strength of character down the stretch and sealed the victory from the foul-line.

Achara led all scorers in the game with 24 points for the Rocks in the victory, while Chavis Holmes led the scoring for the Heat with 20 points personal.
