Two sides challenging for a top four spot in the BBL Championship table meet tonight as Worcester Wolves host the Rocks.
The Wolves are sixth in the BBL Championship table with an 8-7 record while Rocks leapfrogged them into fifth with victory last night against London Lions.
Paul James’ Worcester side will be aiming to level the season series between the team as their trip to the new Emirates Arena in November ended in a narrow 85-79 loss.
James expects a tough game at Worcester University: “The Rocks are a good balanced team of experience and youth. They come to play every game. EJ Harrison and Gareth Murray are probably the two key players, but Donald Robinson and Sterling [Davis] can also be big threats.”
The Wolves play-caller wants a much better performance from his side than when the two sides met earlier in the season: “The last time we played them they totally dominated us in all areas, so we have a lot to put right if we want to get the win.”
Worcester added Sherrad Prezzie-Blue and Kai Williams to their roster in the last few weeks, and having been without a game last week, James believes that the break has worked for his team: “The week off has been beneficial I hope. It has given us a chance to work on a few things and hopefully this will pay off in the games coming up.”
Rocks’ guard/forward Andrew Wedemire is ready for a difficult game in Worcester: “They have a very strong team with all their players being there now and recently have knocked of the top place team. Sherrad Prezzie-Blue and Alex Owumi are probably their key players.”
Glasgow player-coach Sterling Davis knows what to expect from the Wolves: “They are a new-look team now with the arrival of Prezzie-Blue and Williams. These two guys definitely make them one of the deepest teams in the league.
“Up to this point they have had a pretty equal spread of key players depending on the game. I thought we played well against them the first time. We won the rebounding stat which is huge with such a big team.”
