The Rocks snapped a 3 game losing streak with a 109-72 victory over Mersey Tigers. The victory sees the Rocks climb to 6th in the BBL Championship table, with a 7-6 record, overtaking London Lions following their loss to Newcastle Eagles. Tigers remain bottom of the table, with a 0-14 record.
Things started well for Rocks and they went on a 22-4 run early on to take a 36-13 lead over the Tigers with 7:34 left in the second quarter. Tigers fought back as Gael Hulsen sparked a run by making 3 3-points in 3 possessions. He scored 15 of the Tigers’ points in a 19-9 run that reduced the deficit to 45-32. A 7-0 run stretched the Rocks’ lead out once more and they went into half-time leading 54-35.
Rocks continued to be the better team in the second half, going on a 25-10 run that had them leading 92-51 with 7 minutes to play. The lead continued to grow, reaching 43 points following an Owen McNally field goal with 5:02 remaining before Tigers reduced it back to 37 in the closing moments.
All of the Rocks’ players scored points, with Gareth Murray leading the way with 21 while Donald Robinson and Andrew Wedemire both scored 16. Rocks’ Brice Fantazia had 8 assists and his teammate EJ Harrison had 7. Tigers’ Gael Hulsen led all scorers with 22 points.
