The UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders kept up the pressure on the top three sides in the BBL Championship as they made the long trip north of the border and came away with an impressive 69-97 victory over the Glasgow Rocks at the Emirates Arena on Sunday evening.
Both sides traded baskets in the early going of the contest, but the visitors enjoyed a slender four point advantage at 14-18 before five points from Donald Robinson turned that around to give the Rocks a 19-18 lead. The visitors were not to be outdone however as they ended the period the stronger side and bagged the final five points to lead 19-23 at the end of the opening stanza.
In the second quarter, a four-point-play from Drew Lasker to start the period gave the Raiders a 19-27 lead, but the Rocks were not going to give up and let the Raiders run all over them as they stepped up their intensity at both ends of the floor and capped off an impressive period of play with a Jon Bunyan three-pointer to tie the score at 33-33 with 4:18 remaining in the half. In the second half, the Raiders exploded out of the blocks as a Matt Schneck basket sparked a 14-2 start to the third quarter to break the game open and take the score out to 43-58 midway through the period.
