Glasgow Rocks 83 (27,43,61) (Davis 22, Robinson 15, Harrison 15)
Manchester Giants 65 (13,37,50) (Aliu 17, Gill 16, Eaves 14)
Glasgow Rocks moved into third position in the BBL Championship with a comfortable home win against Manchester Giants.
The defeat is a blow to Giants hopes of a play-off position but is a great boost to the Rocks who saw rivals Marjon Plymouth Raiders and Surrey Heat for the third spot both lose.
Sterling Davis, who led all scorers with 22 points, saw his team pull away in the second half after Manchester had threatened to keep the match close.
The Rocks came out flying against Manchester. The first quarter was dominated by the home team as player-coach Davis made it 25-9 from the free throw line.
Giants had trimmed the deficit back to 27-13 heading into the second quarter and they continued in that fightback all the way to 41-37 thanks to good play from Stefan Gill.
Rocks finished the half up by six (43-37) with Mike Ringgold completing the scoring in the first half.
Glasgow re-asserted their dominance in the third quarter.
Again the Giants had reduced the gap to four, the last time at 47-43, before the Rocks surged clear to 59-48 on a Donald Robinson dunk.
Gill briefly made it a single-digit advantage before Robinson ended the scoring in the period at 61-50.
The closest the Giants could get in the final ten minutes was nine (72-63) before Rocks finished with an 11-2 burst to seal the win.
