Glasgow Rocks 90 (23, 45, 65) (Murray 18, Wedemire 17, Bunyan 16)
Mersey Tigers 57 (12, 29, 44) (Schall 15, Bigley 14, Hulsen 11)

Glasgow Rocks sealed third place in the BBL Championship with a 90-57 victory over Mersey Tigers.

In the BBL Playoff quarter-finals, Rocks will now face Marjon Plymouth Raiders, the only team Rocks have lost to in a home game outside of the top two sides.

Mersey Tigers meanwhile finish last in the BBL Championship, becoming the first side to go through an entire BBL season without winning a game.

Gareth Murray – who was announced at the St. Andrew’s First Aid team MVP for the 2012/13 season – led the Rocks with 18 points and 8 rebounds, supported by Andrew Wedemire led the Rocks with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jonny Bunyan made 4/5 3-point attempts and 4/4 free throws to finish with 16 points. Brice Fantazia had 9 assists.

For Tigers, Nathan Schall led their scorers with 15 points. Chris Bigley scored 14 points and pulled down 8 boards.

Tigers started strongly, racing out into an 11-4 lead after Nathan Schall’s basket mid-way through the first quarter.

It wasn’t to last long. Rocks out-scored them 19-1 through the rest of the quarter and went on a 30-4 tear to go ahead 34-15 mid-way through the second period. Wedemire took the Rocks out to an even greater lead late in the quarter, making a trey to make it 43-23.

Tigers cut the lead a little to 45-29 at half-time then kept that momentum going after the break to go on a 15-4 run, Schall scoring 7 of their points during the run to make it 47-38.

Rocks responded by going on another tear, outscoring Tigers 23-6 to make it 70-44 early in the final stanza. Jonny Bunyan scored 8 points, including a pair of threes in that run.

Josh McGinn cut the Rocks lead to 75-53 mid-way through the quarter, but Rocks then finished the game on a 15-4 tear to seal the victory.
