Glasgow Rocks floor general, EJ Harrison has renewed his loyalty to the team for the 4th consecutive season. The Connecticut born American will lace up once again for the Scottish side after being one of the teams leading scorers last season.
EJ first arrived in Glasgow in 2010 whereby he stamped an impressive seal on his stead with the Glasgow faithful thanks in part to his work ethic on and off the floor and living up to the expectations of a player of his calibre. As the years have gone by he has become a fan favourite within the team with his very welcoming personality along with the skill level he brings to the team. There were many factors which contributed in the Rocks enticing EJ back after talks of retiring at the end of last season. Coach Davis is delighted on Harrison’s decision to return to the Emirates Arena.
“I feel very good about EJ coming back. It seems every season now we have the conversation of retirement transpiring but I know he is a competitor and would like to go out on a winning note in bringing silverware to the team.”
Player-coach Sterling Davis also feels the 37 year old still has a lot to offer productively.
“If you look at EJ’s stats from his arrival in Glasgow to now; they haven’t really changed much at all. One or two have had a very slight dip but he has also improved in others. To have a guy still be able to perform at the same level but have more wisdom is invaluable.”
The Glasgow Rocks run one of the most extensive community projects in the league and Harrison has shown throughout the tenure his commitment to maintaining the longevity of the program by the reception he receives within the community and young children in particular, as noted by General Manager, Daniel Bajwoluk.
“EJ has been a great ambassador for the club both on and off the court for the past 3 seasons. He brings great leadership qualities to the court which we all witness week in week out, but what people don’t necessarily see is the crucial role he plays within our community projects. EJ is our Rock and we are glad to have him back”.
EJ Harrison and the Rocks will be looking forward to the Opening game of the season on the 6th October when they face the Surrey Heat in what is gearing up to be another Blockbuster opener to a season at the Emirates Arena. The Emirates Arena will also be celebrating its 1 year anniversary during the 5th and 6th October, so Rocks fans will definitely be in for a treat when they attend the season opener on the 6th! Prior to that Opening fixture, the Rocks will be staging some pre-season friendly games during the month of September. A full announcement regarding pre-season fixtures will be made in the coming weeks.
