There is more to come from Glasgow Rocks ahead of their trip to face London Lions at the Copper Box Arena on Sunday.
That is the view of forward Patrick Manifold after Rocks slipped to 1-2 at Esh Group Eagles Newcastle last weekend.
Lions sit above their opponents at 2-2 but Manifold is taking the positives from the Eagles reverse.
“It isn’t the start we were expecting, because we know that we are capable of so much more,” he said.
“A positive we can take from the Newcastle game is that even though we did not play to our full potential, and had some unforced turnovers, we were still in the game only being down five going into the fourth quarter.
“That tells us that if we continue to fight through the ups and downs of the game and stick to our game plan we can still win games even when times get tough.”
This games comes less than 24 hours after a visit to Leicester Riders – but it’s the type of challenge Rocks relish.
Manifold added: “Playing away from home in the second game of a back-to-back, we will have to bring our own energy to the Copper Box.
“They are a good team with veteran leadership and we expect it to be a physical game. But as always, we are a team full of competitors so we look forward to the challenge.”
Last time they met:
Glasgow Rocks 69 London Lions 66 (BBL Championship, Emirates Arena, 03/02/2013)
What they say:
Rocks coach Sterling Davis: “We have not got off to the best start this season. We are still doing some figuring out but I feel we will get there pretty soon.
“(We must focus on) Weathering the storm for an entire game. I thought that game (against Newcastle) was very much a game of runs but we allowed Newcastle to have an extended run, which they really capitalised on.”
Lions coach Vince Macaulay: “We are delighted to be in the hunt with our key players still to come in. We are also gutted to have lost the two games we have.
“Daniel (Northern, Rocks forward/centre) is a great guy, full of character and energy, he can drive a team forward, you must keep him off the glass or he will generate a monster game for is team.”
