Giants too strong for Rocks

Manchester Giants 98 (28,58,75) (Aliu 24, Gill 24, Marsden/Jones 15)
Glasgow Rocks 87 (18,42,63) (Harrison 19, Northern 17, Murray 13)

There were no shortage of big performances for Manchester Giants as they beat the Rocks 98-87.

Captain James Jones played all 40 minutes and had a double-double of 15 points and 11 assists.

David Aliu also didn’t miss a second as scored 24 points to tie an exceptional shooting night from Stefan Gill who made seven of nine from the floor including four three-pointers.

Gill also made all six of his free throws. David Watts was the second Giant to record a double-double (12 points and 10 rebounds).

All the individual efforts contributed to a strong Giants team performance which saw them take a 28-18 first quarter lead and build on it to be 58-42 at half time.

Giants lead never dipped below double-digits in the third quarter and it was only in the final stanza that the Rocks mounted a fight back.

A 77-63 Phoenix lead was trimmed all the way down to 84-81 on Antonio DiMaria’s three.  Jones immediately responded with a triple of his own and it started a 7-0 burst which made the match safe for Manchester.
