The Glasgow Rocks have made a swift move to bolster their squad in the lead up to the Trophy Quarter Final which is to be played on the 23rd February against the Manchester Giants at 5:30pm.
The signing of 6’5” Canadian Guard/Forward, Chris Johnson, should go a long way in strengthening the Rocks perimeter presence both on the offensive and defensive ends. Johnson comes into the Rocks line-up on the back of playing for NCAA Atlantic 10 Conference team, St Bonaventure University. In his final year at St Bonaventure he averaged an impressive 12.6 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game. The Rocks will be hoping that Johnson can bring that kind of form across the pond for the remainder of the BBL season.
Head Coach Sterling Davis is excited about his most recent acquisition and believes Johnson is the spark the Rocks need to keep their 2013/14 season alive.
“Chris is a guy who I feel fell through the cracks this past summer. He comes from a good school in a very competitive conference so I feel his experience will resonate well to our league and our organization. He has the ability to guard multiple positions on the floor and can also put the ball in the basket. We are lucky to find a guy of his calibre available at this point in the season.”
Johnson will be looking to make an immediate impact and is scheduled to make his first appearance for the Glasgow Rocks on the 2nd February when they face the in-form Cheshire Phoenix at the Emirates Arena. He is focussed and ready to take on the best that the BBL has to offer.
“I am looking forward to getting to Glasgow, making an impact on the court, and helping the Rocks get some wins.”
The Glasgow Rocks next scheduled fixture will take place on the aforementioned 2nd February against Cheshire Phoenix at the world renowned Emirates Arena in Glasgow at 5:00pm. Tickets are still available for this fixture and can be purchased via the Glasgow Rocks website. www.glasgowrocks.co.uk
