A commanding fourth quarter performance gave Plymouth University Raiders a vital win over play-off rivals Glasgow Rocks in Devon.
Nick George scored 22 points as the seventh placed Raiders put together a 13-0 run to start the final stanza to seize control of the match 70-62. Raiders pushed out their lead to 83-68 on Donald Robinson’s two with less than two minutes to play, which all but sealed the match.
Daniel Northern top scored for Rocks with 20 points, who remain four points out of the play-off positions in ninth.
Earlier a 9-4 Rocks run gave them a 15-10 lead by Raiders responded to tie the match at 17-17 before a Gareth Murray three and Fran Urli’s two handed the visitors a 22-19 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Plymouth took the lead at 25-23 on a George two and the advantage switched between the sides until an 8-2 close to the half gave Rocks a 43-39 lead at the interval.
Rocks managed to extend their advantage by just one point in the third quarter with their largest lead being 60-53.
The team have a crucial two weeks coming up to try and salvage the season, with home games in the Championship against fellow playoff hopefuls Manchester Giants (Fri 21st Feb) and Durham Wildcats (Sun 2nd March) and a BBL Trophy Quarter-Final against the Giants this Sunday.
