Defence Key for Upcoming Games
After a dream start to 2010, and a string of 6 straight wins, the Rocks phenomenal run came to an abrupt end when they travelled down to Worcester last week. It was a physical contest, played at a quick pace, and without big man Copes the Rocks struggled. The guys made no excuses and when we asked 'G' (Murray), what went wrong in Worcester, his reply was simple.
"Defence. We pride ourselves on our defence and unfortunately it was non-existent last week. We didn't get the stops when we needed them, and that caused friction at the offensive end. We need to focus on our defence this week at training if we want to win our upcoming games."
So at present, Sterl and his men are still licking their wounds after their defeat at the hands of the Wolves, but it may be the wake up call the Rocks need, as they prepare to play three of the in-form teams in the league in Worthing, Everton and Sheffield all within a week, and all in the comfort of Kelvin Hall.
The guys always concentrate on the game at hand, and all of their focus will be towards the game on Sunday against the Thunder, in front of what is looking like a full house in Kelvin Hall. It's no secret, the Thunder have become a team to be reckoned with of late, and Reggie Bratton is the driving force behind it.
G agrees and feels that "Bratton is the player we need to contain if we want to beat the Thunder, he controls the game for them and is playing some great basketball right now. We know what we have to do, hopefully it all comes together on Sunday"
Recently named Player of the Month, Bratton will be the go to guy for the Thunder, but the Rocks will need to silence his equally dangerous associates in Zabas, Makalainen, Richard, and Prezzie-Blue if they want to take the points.
The Rocks vs Worthing Thunder clash is this Sunday the 7th February at Kelvin Hall at 5:00pm. Tickets are Selling Fast for this one. Make sure you book now to avoid disappointment....
