This week we travel to Newcastle to face Old Rivals the Eagles, followed by what looks to be the game that will shape our playoff aspirations against the Milton Keynes Lions on Easter Monday here at Kelvin Hall.
The guys all understand the importance of the Eagles game, as the Eagles are only one win away from securing the league title for season 2008/09. We can expect a full house in Newcastle on Friday night, but we will all be hoping that our Rocks spoil their party. It won't be easy as the Eagles have now won 15 games straight and look to be untouchable as the season winds down. Marc Pratt, however, has a different outlook on things.
"I believe that we can still win on Friday. We have believed that we could beat the Eagles all season and have already done it once. It would be a great time to beat them again, as it would stop their impressive run and give us some momentum coming into the end of the season. Most importantly we want to prove to our fans that we can still win, hopefully we can do that on Friday".
It doesn't all end on Friday though, as the Rocks will return to Glasgow to face Milton Keynes Lions on Easter Monday 13th April at 5pm. This time we will have the comfort of Kelvin Hall, and the knowledge that there will be 1000 screaming fans helping us get over the line. It could be the game that decides our fate in the competition this season. A win will seal our position in the Playoffs while a loss could potentially spiral us out of the playoff race. It is a crucial game on all accounts, and we will need to be prepared for the Lions, utilising our strengths while taking advantage of their weaknesses, and Marc agrees.
"We are a much quicker team than the Lions, and we will need to take advantage of that come Monday. We have to understand that they are a very physical team, so we need to wear them out early and exploit their weaknesses if we are to compete. I think our athleticism should be enough to beat the Lions".
The Playoff race should become that little bit clearer come Monday night and hopefully we will all be celebrating a Rocks victory and assurance of our place in the 2008/09 playoff series. Make sure you all come out and support your Rocks on Easter Monday the 13th April, 5pm tip-off at Kelvin Hall.
