Coachless Rocks Battle to 84-69 Win over Everton Tigers
[
return]
The Glasgow Rocks put on a courageous performance tonight at Kelvin Hall to secure an 84-69 victory over BBL rivals, Everton Tigers.
With most of the Rocks team having just recovered from illness and coming off the back of last nights overtime loss away to Cheshire, Everton Tigers posed a mighty threat. The Rocks, without player/coach Sterling Davis who is out with a quad strain, faced a tough first half in which they struggled to find any momentum. A pivotal moment came in the last minute of the second when Rocks player/coach Sterling Davis was ejected from the arena for two technical fouls, and the Rocks ended the half 10 points behind (33-43).
This proved motivational for his depleted squad and the coachless Rocks came out fighting in the second half to take the game by 15 points. Copeland, Sapp and Yanders led the scoring on 21 points a piece, whilst Copeland dominated the paint taking 12 rebounds.
The Rocks are next in BBL action on Sunday 29th November when they play host to Worcester Wolves at kelvin Hall (tip-off 5pm)
