Rocks vs Wolves Preview at the Fortress, Kelvin Hall [return]

Rocks hoping to advance up the BBL ladder without Coach Sterling Davis!!!

Glasgow Rocks will again be without player-coach Sterling Davis when they host Worcester Wolves on Sunday evening in a St Andrew's Day BBL clash.

Davis missed his side's win against Everton due to injury, and to add insult to that injury was ejected from the game and will serve a one-game suspension on Sunday.

It will be the second meeting between the teams this season, and Rocks will be aiming to wrap up the head-to-head series between the teams having won 93-89 when the teams met in the midlands in October. Now in their fourth BBL season, Wolves have struggled against the Rocks since joining the competition with only two wins from 12 games. Davis was delighted with his team's performance against the Tigers, and wasn't too disappointed with their 88-83 loss at Cheshire the previous day: "I feel like we played in a way that would be any coach's dream to see his team perform. I think there is a point in every season where a coach can attest to this and this was our time.

"To be honest, there were only eight minutes at Cheshire where we failed to perform to that level. We played extremely well that night too. I was most impressed with our defence. In the end though, the clock didn't move it seemed like and Cheshire was pushing it down our throat. We relaxed and got comfortable from the performance we put on in the first three quarters.

When asked which of his players stood out, Davis was reluctant to name individuals "Well without question everyone could be named as ones who stood out but I have to give a lot of credit to our captain, Rob Yanders. He was given a big task of taking over when I was ejected, and I think he could not have handled it better."

He was also candid about his ejection: "It's very frustrating and one of those moments, once things calm down you wish you could have handled differently. My thoughts on the ejection are that Chris Dodd made the call and that was it. If he makes that call what can I do. At the end of the day once Chris Dodd makes the call, it's done."

Rocks had a week off last week, and Davis was pleased with the break after Swine Flu swept through the Glasgow team: "Yeah everyone is back fine now, and hopefully it's gone for good. It's crazy to think that that spread through our team the way it did but it was there."

Despite their win at Worcester earlier in the campaign Davis expects a tough game when the Wolves arrive at Kelvin Hall: "I think they are very dangerous team to play, and Chuck is doing a good job his first year in. They always play hard and at a high pace. I think Harker, Disy and George are all key for them on the inside and Zabas is lights out from the perimeter. We will have to be ready to play transition defence and just match their intensity."

Five of the Rocks next six Championship games are at home, and Davis is looking for his team to make a push up the table: "We have to make Kelvin hall our fortress and protect it any way possible. It definitely helps to have to the crowd behind you so hopefully that will see us closer to the top of the table."

The Rocks take on the Wolves on Sunday the 29th November at 5:00pm, Kelvin Hall.
