Rocks Win in Worcester by 71-112 [return]

The SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks evened their record at 2 wins and 2 losses with an impressive 112-71 road victory at Worcester Wolves Saturday night.

The 112 point tally tops the 110 they scored Wednesday night in a double overtime loss to Newcastle. This time the Rocks did it in regulation time… and with a bit of breathing room.

Squeaky Hampton led the way for the Rocks with 26 points while Moritz Wohlers added 23 and Julius Joseph 19.

Head Coach Sterling Davis commented on the effort:

“We are all pretty pleased with the effort and the result tonight. We just wanted to be as focused as possible knowing that Worcester have made some major changes since last season.

“They’ve taken some good teams to the wire this year so I really wanted to be sure we stayed focused. We got off to a good start by working hard on defence, and that generated the offence.”

The win over Worcester moves the Rocks up to 5th place in the BBL standings. The Braehead side now move to Milton Keynes for a 4:00 tip-off tomorrow (Sunday) vs. the Lions with whom they share an identical 2W-2L record. Another Scottish victory would move them up to a tie for 4th place in the BBL Championship.
