The Glasgow Rocks and Guildford Heat match up with each other on Friday evening – the Rocks sit just one place behind Heat, but have only played fourteen games compared to the Heat's nineteen, where a bad run in December has contributed to them going 9-10 for the first four months of the season in the league. Player-coach Chad McKnight insists that this should not worry his players, as there is still a long way to go. He also praised the efforts of influential forward Mike Martin, in reviving the Heat cause in the New Year. He said: 'I think my team is playing well right now, we won our first game on the road since the beginning of the season, which was a trophy game, so it’s a good start to the New Year. I'm not sure where we will end up at the end of the season, we just want to keep on playing tough and we will see where we end up' he added on Martin: 'I think Mike Martin has, with his consistency play and his leadership on court, been key in us winning our games since the new year.'
The American Morehead State graduate clearly rates the Rocks, particularly point guard Rob Yanders, and forward Mike Copeland: 'The Glasgow Rocks are a good team' he said: 'Last time we played them, we went up on them at the beginning, then we lost the lead and they took control of the game. So for us to win we will have to go up there and play tough defence' he concluded: 'I think the main strengths of the Rocks is their guard play, (Rob) Yanders had a great game against us last time we played them and so did (Mike) Copeland.'
His Rocks counterpart, Sterling Davis, sees the BBL title race and fight for play-off positions being an exciting thing this year: ' I think everyone in the league knows it can go any way right now so it will be a good race' he said: 'I think we match up pretty well with Guildford, we just saw them a week ago so I know it will be another battle. Their main strengths are their physical and mental toughness. They have a lot of veteran leadership and experience which is a great asset to have.'
