Glasgow Rocks made light work of Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders with a comfortable 66-87 victory in the East Midland.
Playing without the injured Bradd Wierzbicki, Riders had no answer for a full strength Rocks team including new signing Randall Hanke.
Rocks didn’t take long get a firm hold on the match. Michael Copeland scored eight-points in an 18-6 start that set the tone for the first quarter. Threes by Jessie Sapp and Rob Yanders in the final minute made it 14-29 to the visitors.
Matters didn’t improve in the second period and Rocks pushed their lead out to 20 (21-41). A 6-0 end to the half, with the last two points from Hanke, saw Glasgow in control at 29-53.
Threes from Gareth Murray and Yanders gave Rocks their biggest lead of the night at 41-69 midway through the third quarter and it took a late fourth quarter 7-0 run by Leicester to get the margin below 20 for the first time since just before half time.
Even that achievement came to nothing though as Hanke finished the match with a dunk to move Rocks level on points with third placed Marshall MK Lions.
