GAME PREVIEW: Rocks vs Worcester Wolves, 30th Jan 2010 [return]

Rocks look to extend winning streak.

The Glasgow Rocks will be looking to extend their winning streak in 2010, this weekend when they take on the Wolves in Worcester. On the other hand the Worcester Wolves will be looking to log their third ever defeat of Glasgow Rocks when the sides meet this Saturday, and Head Coach Paul James, knows that it is going to be a tough game: ‘I think it's going to be a tough match up for both teams. They have just added some more height to there line up in (Randall) Hanke who is definetly going to make them better’ he added: ‘We are still getting to know what each other can do, but we have been able to stay in games by our togetherness.’

After a great start under James, otherwise known as PJ, the Wolves had a disappointing weekend last weekend, as they went down 71-92 to Newcastle Eagles, followed by an intense 82-83 overtime loss against the in-form Worthing Thunder. James gave his thoughts on the game: ‘I was disappointed not to have won on Sunday against Worthing and thought we were average at best. On Friday against Newcastle we played well in the first half and could not buy a basket in the second even though we had some great looks at the basket.’

Ahead of the game, Rocks player-coach, Sterling Davis, said: ‘I think we match up pretty well with Worcester in that they have good guard play and pretty physical bodies on the inside as well’ he continued: ‘Our strengths have changed throughout the course of season, but right now we seem to be better at adjusting to our opponents quicker. We have to do a better job of keeping consistency throughout the course of a game or from game to game.’

The Rocks had a double-winning weekend last weekend, with wins over Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders, and Airwaves Plymouth Raiders, to leave the Texan-born forward a delighted man. He concluded: ‘I was very happy to come out of there with two wins. Both Leicester and Plymouth are in pretty good form right now, so to get both of those felt pretty nice. I think we won because we kept our focus and met the challenges we set for ourselves for the weekend.’
