GAME PREVIEW: Glasgow Rocks vs Cheshire Jets - Friday, 12th March, 2010 [return]

Rocks take on Jets in crucial encounter.

The Rocks will be hoping to tighten their grip of 3rd position on the BBL ladder when they take on the Jets Friday night at Kelvin Hall.
The Jets are coming of the back of a split double header and will be eager to avenge their recent loss to the Rocks at home.

Despite the disappointment of going down 80-79 in the 1st leg of the Semi Final to Marshall MK Lions last Friday, the Jets aptly bounced back to overturn Essex Pirates, 84-72, and gain revenge on Tim Lewis' team for the 72-80 defeat they inflicted on the Jets last time the two sides met. Smith was pleased with the result and work ethic of his players:'We fought hard for a good win, Essex is a tough place to go to' he added: 'We are not playing well at the moment and we are making far too many basic individual errors, but we are sticking together and working very hard.'

Rocks player-coach, Sterling Davis, will be pleased with his side's recent progress, as they have won five of their last six games to propel themselves into third place in the BBL Championship table, on 36 points. However, he is not about to take the Jets lightly, as he explained: 'We have seen Cheshire a few times this season and each game we have been involved in with them has been a great spectator game.'

The Rocks' mid-season signing of Michael Crowell, an American with a German passport, seems to have paid off well, as the 6'7'' Forward has shot around 50% from behind the three point line in almost 11 points per game. Although they were dealt a blow in recent weeks after the departure of GB star Randall Hanke for Europe, Davis was keen to compliment Crowell and said that the Hanke leaving will not have too much of an impact on his team: 'We lost out on a bit of depth with the team but with his (Hanke's) short stint here I don't feel his position within the team was ever completely set. (Michael) Crowell has been great for us. He is one of those guys who will do whatever you need him to do, with no questions asked. He is the definition of a team player.'
