Charity Skydive - Sponsor Sarah and Daniel
[
return]
On 4th July 2010 the Rocks General Manager and Operations Manager will throw themselves out of a plane at 10,000 feet. No the pressures of the job aren't getting to them, Sarah and Daniel are taking on this challenge to raise vital funds for partner charity Scottish Sports Futures - with the aid of a parachute!
Scottish Sports Futures is a registered charity which offers community based projects to young people in deprived areas in Scotland. We are committed to enhancing the lives of these young people by promoting the importance of attitude, fitness and a 'Go For It!' outlook on life, our projects provide young people with opportunities that will encourage them towards achieving their ambitions and reaching their full potential. Our motto is 'Education Through Sport' We work with professional basketball players who are role models who help captivate these at risk youngsters both in primary schools and when they are most at risk in the evening.
Without vital funds from activities such as this the programmes that our Rocks players are so passionate about delivering would not be possible.
"I grew up surrounded by drugs and gangs in America and I know how hard it is to make the right choices. Having positive role models and a place to play sports basically saved my life. Now I want to do all I can to help kids know that no matter where they are in life, they have a choice."
Rob Yanders, Glasgow Rocks Captain.
So if you'd like to donate to this great cause or just see us jump out of a plane please donate anything you can. All donations are hugely appreciated!
The Jump will take place on Sunday 4th July 2010 at the Auchterarder airfield and of course we will update you with stories and photos after the event.
