Rocks Lose To Eagles on Final Day

The final day of the 2009/10 BBL season saw the Rocks lose a thrilling battle with fierce rivals Newcastle Eagles. The match was witnessed by vocal support from both sides and despite the irrelevance of the result the sides kept the near capacity crowd entertained with a close and high paced game. The match was mere ceremony for the two sides with the Rocks having secured third place last weekend and the Eagles already league champions.
The Rocks were without key imports Mike Copeland and Jessie Sapp who were recovering from minor knocks suffered in Friday’s game at Everton. Captain Rob Yanders, who was voted St. Andrews First Aid MVP of the season prior to tip-off, lead the match in scoring on 33 points.
The Rocks now look to their all-important playoff quarter final versus Leicester next Sunday 25th April, tip-off 5pm. The Rocks have not progressed to the semi-finals of the play-offs since 2007 so this is a huge game for the Kelvin Hall side.
