Saturday’s contest will be a real test as the Riders narrowly downed the Rocks at Braehead just over 3 weeks ago. Since then the Rocks have added an assistant (Rafael Silva) to aid player/coach Sterling Davis and secured a first round victory in the BBL Cup.
Davis says his squad are focused on staying focused.
“We may have let our concentration slip in a few close losses this year, but we know that is something that can be fixed. The guys stayed focused throughout the whole game against Worcester (84-55 victory) and hopefully we can repeat that in Leicester and Birmingham this weekend.”
A victory in Leicester would support the recent comments of co-captain Rob Yanders who says his side are better than their BBL league record of 3 wins and 5 losses.
“Now it’s time for us to put up or shut up, and I’m confident we will put up.” he said.
Sunday’s game against the Panthers in Birmingham with be the first ever match-up of these two clubs. Although the Panthers sit below the Rocks with only 2 wins on the season, their most recent was a convincing victory over 4th place Sheffield Sharks just a week ago.
“There are no easy games in this League,” said Davis. “That’s why it will take every ounce of energy and concentration for us to have a successful trip… but we all know we have to tools to get the job done.”
The Rocks next home game is Sunday 18 November v Sheffield Sharks at Braehead Arena (5:00pm). For info and tickets visit www.scottishrocks.co.uk.
