Revive MS Support and Glasgow Rocks team up for Rocks first Home fixture of 2012! [return]

The Glasgow Rocks Professional Basketball team will be helping to raise funds for charity Revive MS Support on the 22nd January, by donating some of the proceeds of their Championship fixture against Mersey Tigers to the hardworking charity.

Revive MS Support is a charity dedicated to helping everyone affected by Multiple Sclerosis and the Glasgow Rocks have teamed up with them in an effort to help raise awareness of the debilitating disease.

The 22nd of January will see the Rocks face the Mersey Tigers in their first Home game of 2012, in what is sure to be a season defining fixture for the Rocks as they have found it difficult to notch up victories in recent weeks due to their ever growing list of injuries. They will be looking to get back on track with a much needed win against the Tigers on Sunday evening.

The Glasgow Rocks will not only be focusing on performing well against the Tigers but they will also be hoping to get fans to dig deep and support the efforts of charity Revive MS Support, a Maryhill based charity assisting all those who have been affected in some way by Multiple Sclerosis.

Cara Doran, Fundraising Manager for Revive MS Support had the following to say about the event. “We are delighted to have the support of Glasgow Rocks in raising awareness of Revive MS Support at a local level. Hopefully we can let more people know about our therapy centre and what we do to support people living with Multiple Sclerosis in the Glasgow area.”

Daniel Bajwoluk, General Manager of the Glasgow Rocks said. “With over 10,000 people in Scotland diagnosed with MS, the highest prevalence of any country in the world, services such as physiotherapy, counselling, speech/language therapy and exercise classes need to be maintained. Hopefully the connection with the Glasgow Rocks will not only help raise funds for the charity but it will also assist in raising awareness of the severity of the disease throughout Scotland.”

The charity will be staging a special Raffle along with face painting for the kids at the fixture on the 22nd January. All the proceeds from these events will go straight to the charity.
