After a real horror show in their previous home game against Mersey Tigers, it was back to winning ways for Sterling Davis and his Glasgow Rocks team as they shrugged off foul trouble to surge away in the closing stages and wrap up a victory against the Heat.
Both teams have had inconsistent seasons and in the early stages, it was the visitors who made all of the running as they powered their way into a 12-6 lead with some good energy helping them grab some transition scores.
The best of the work was due to Drew Lasker who was looking very lively and contributed to Andrew Wedemire having to take a seat quickly after picking up a couple of early fouls. It also helped his team extend their advantage to 20-11 although Rocks came back with four of the last six points in the opening period to cut the gap to 22-15.
Rocks finally began to move through the gears at both ends of the floor with their defence forcing Heat into three successive turnovers and laying the platform for a 12-4 run, helped by a couple of triples by EJ Harrison.
Trailing 40-37 shortly ahead of the interval,Heat responded as Mike Martin converted with a rare three-pointer to level the scores before Lasker was in the thick of the action again when he went coast to coast to put his team in front as the teams left the court at the end of the first half.
When the Rocks returned to the floor they looked much stronger and it wasn't long before they began to dominate after opening up with a stunning 17-2 burst as Mychal Green put the hosts 57-44 ahead.
In a topsy-turvy encounter, Heat then responded brilliantly as Wedemire and then Deaundre Cranston became embroiled in foul trouble for the homes team. The visitors took full advantage to finish the quarter with a 13-4 run of their own which meant they trailed by just four points going into the last ten minutes.
It looked like Heat might be poised for a really great road win when Tayo Ogedengbe threw down a big dunk to continue their revival and get his team to within a point at 72-71 but it was to be as close as they would get.
Rocks responded with a 7-0 run as the Heat offence inexplicably went AWOL and it proved decisive as the hosts eased away to secure victory.
Mychal Green top scored for Rocks while Gareth Murray (pictured) converted each one of his three attempts from long distance and that was essential in a game when neither team were in good form from outside.
Lasker was the pick of the visitors with 14 points, nine rebounds and four assists.
