If you're not yet on our E-list, or if you just want to read it again, here's a look at yesterday's Rocks Report.

ROCKS REPORT: 17 January 2008

Another shot at the Eagles comes Sunday - Be there!

BIG GAME SUNDAY!
Eagles return for Trophy showdown

Most Rocks fans know what a big day Sunday is. The Newcastle Eagles come to town for the final group game of the BBL Trophy.

They caught us off guard just after New Year down in Newcastle and we lost by 24. It migth seem like a big task to turn the tables and beat them by 24 on Sunday, but we came away with a 19 point victory over the Eagles the last time we played at Braehead.

Fab (Eagles coach Fabulous Flournoy) thinks they've already qualified, but I can think of about 2,000 reasons (you fans who will be in the stands) why this thing is far from over.

The Rocks are known for their fighting spirit and there is nothing more electric than a big Rocks victory at Braehead. So come on out for the action. . . and bring a friend or two . . . or 8!

Remember, your tickets are cheaper when you book on-line.

ROCKS IN THE COMMUNITY
Jump2it finals on Sunday

As you know, the Rocks players have been working very hard with the "Jump2it" programme run by the Scottish Sports Futures charity. The guys have been talking to many of Glasgow's pupils about the dangers of smoking & addiction and the importance of proper nutrition & exercise. Every week they visit as many as eight different schools for two hours each.

The school visits are followed up by basketball coaching blocks which feed into a tournament. From the first 16 schools (of 64), 94 teams were formed by 650 participants who took part in a recent tournament at Kelvin Hall.

Teams from 4 schools have emerged and will battle it out at Braehead in the semi-finals prior to Sunday's big game. The semi-finalists will represent Ibrox, Lourdes, St Vincent's and Greenfield primary schools.

The two winning semi-finalists will then come out for the final at half-time. Their friends and families will be there to cheer them on, and we hope you will too!

ROCK RADIO
Sponsor of Sunday's Big Game!

If you haven't heard by now, Rock Radio is the official sponsor of Sunday's big game v. Newcastle. They've been talking about the game all week and they'll have a free car sticker for everyone at the game on Sunday.
You also won't want to miss the fabulous Rockettes on air tomorrow (Friday) between 2 - 6 pm on 96.3 Rock Radio. Tune in all day tomorrow for your chance to win a free Rockettes calendar, and then listen between 2 - 6 to hear what the girls think about the big game.

As we say . . . ROCK ON!

P.S. Listen to both Rock and Real Radio for interviews with JJ throughout the weekend!

SCOREBOARD UPDATE
On the mend

I must offer a huge debt of thanks to all of you for your patience as we get the Arena scoreboard sorted out. While the back-up system is less than ideal, I must commend the Arena for all the work they have been doing in recent weeks to get the system back up and running.

The latest is that significant repairs have now been made and the system has undergone rigorous testing. With the exception of the foul count, we fully expect the scoreboard and 24 second clock to be working properly on Sunday.

If this latest fix isn't 100% reliable, the Arena has committed to bringing in an entirely new scoreboard. Again, I thank them for their efforts and I thank you for your support and patience through the process.

Let's just hope that the home score can go 25 points higher than the away score on Sunday!

SQUEAKY & GARETH ON SPORTS WEEKLY
The Odd Couple hits the airwaves

Rocks stars Maurice "Squeaky" Hampton and Gareth Murray have been invited to be John Beatie's Guests on his "Sports Weekly" radio programme on Saturday morning. You wont want to miss this.

You know a lot about what they can do on the court, but do you know what they're like around the house? These two superstars share a flat and sometimes they don't always agree. Tune in Saturday morning between 9 and 10 to hear the real story...

PURPLE HOTEL OPENING SOON!
