Rocks Confident on Way to Guildford [return]

The SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks head to Guildford on Sunday to take on the defending BBL champions Guildford Heat. Rocks player/coach Sterling Davis and his captain Julius Joseph are both confident of a good result.

“We know it won’t be an easy task, but we’re playing good basketball right now. We’re confident and ready to play,” said Davis.

The Rocks are on a 4-game winning streak which includes a 100-78 demolition of League-leading Newcastle Eagles last Sunday at Braehead. The Rocks currently sit 5th in the BBL table, but many are picking the League’s only Scottish side to contend for the title in April.

Four of the Rocks last 5 games have been in BBL Trophy competition, but the season’s remaining fixtures are all League (BBL Championship) games. Davis commented:

“We’re looking forward to getting back to League play again. It’s a good opportunity for us to take on Guildford Sunday. They’re clearly one of the League’s top teams, but right now we feel like we can beat anybody.”

GB international and Rocks co-captain Julius Joseph has similar feelings about Sunday.

“Playing Guildford is always an exciting game. The last few encounters over the years have always been action-packed. We’re going into the game a very confident team and very focused on coming out of there with a win,” he said.

The Rocks next home game is Wednesday night at Braehead Arena when they will take on League newcomers London Capital who will be making their first visit to Scotland. Tip off is 7:30, doors at 6:30. Tickets at www.scottishrocks.co.uk.
