Speaking of the Braehead side’s winning record of late, the American co-captain offered some strong and very clear words.
"We had a good run with six in a row, but I'm not satisfied. 5th place isn't good enough for me, or anyone on this team. We're better than that. I want 10 in a row. I want first place. I want a championship. That's why we're here, that's what we're going after, and that's what we gotta get started on Friday night in Milton Keynes."
The Rocks will hit the road Friday to face off with the Marshall MK Lions. The Rocks are hoping to get revenge from the 3 point loss back in October when they last played the Lions. The game was very intense with the score tied at the half and close throughout. With the Lions sitting in second place in the BBL the Rocks and player/coach Sterling Davis know how important this game is.
“This is a real gut-check for us. We’ve played some great basketball this season, but we’ve also stumbled a couple times. If we want to bring home some silverware we can’t stumble anymore. Friday in Milton Keynes and Sunday’s home game against Sheffield will show us and everyone where we really stand,” said Davis.
The Rocks have had a tough week of practice in preparation for the Lions as well as the Sheffield Sharks who they will play Sunday 10 February (5:00pm) at Braehead Arena. The Sharks are just 4 points behind the Rocks and hungry to move up in the BBL table. The Rocks know that no team or game is to be taken lightly and are equally prepared to fend off the Sharks as they are to bring down the Lions.
After what is sure to be a battle on Friday night and a long bus ride home, the Rocks will call on the “sixth man” (the fans) to carry them through on Sunday. Braehead has been one of the toughest venues in the League for road teams as the Rocks fan support has grown in numbers and volume of late. On the back of a tough weekend, that role will be more important than ever on Sunday.
