Rocks Reach 3rd Place with London Stomping [return]

SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks moved into a tie for 3rd place in the BBL Championship table with an emphatic 77-55 win over London Capital Sunday night before the biggest crowd of the season at Braehead Arena. The Rocks led by as many as 38 early in the 4th quarter before emptying their bench to give the reserves some much deserved court time.

The Rocks were led by Moritz Wohlers with 17 points and Squeaky Hampton with 16. Co-captains Rob Yanders and Julius Joseph each added 11 while Danish national Bilal Clarance had 10.

Next up for the Rocks is a crucial game Wednesday night in Plymouth against the Raiders. The Rocks and Raiders currently sit in joint 3rd place just 4 points behind league leaders Newcastle. Wednesday’s winner will leap-frog Guildford Heat into 2nd place.

The Heat then come to Braehead on Sunday (24th Feb) for a game that could put the Rocks in the driver’s seat for a home playoff game in April. The League’s top 4 finishers qualify to host quarterfinal matches ahead of the semi-finals and final at the NIA in Birmingham.
