The Rocks and Plymouth currently hold identical 14-7 win-loss records and sit in joint third place in the BBL Championship. Wednesday’s winner will strengthen their position in the quest for a top four finish, which would earn the right to host a quarterfinal playoff game. The loser will face an uphill battle over the season’s remaining 11 games.
Rocks player/coach Sterling Davis knows the importance of this game and how his squad must approach it.
It’ll be a playoff atmosphere down in Plymouth. They always get a good crowd and I know they’ll be well prepared.
For us, the keys are the same as in any game. We will focus on playing tough defence and getting off to a good start. Then it’s a matter of staying focused for the full 40 minutes. We’ve all made sure that message has been loud and clear in practice lately. You can’t relax for even a few minutes in this league.”
After a comfortable win over 11th place London on Sunday, Davis knows there is a lot at stake against Plymouth.
“This is a good opportunity for us. Plymouth are one of the better teams in the League so this is a chance for us to show what we’re made of.”
The Rocks and Raiders last faced-off back in October with a very close match throughout. The Raiders came out on top by 74-69, leaving the Rocks hungry for revenge… and a leap into 2nd place.
After the Plymouth game, the Rocks will have another quick turn-around as they return home on Sunday to face 2nd place Guildford Heat at Braehead Arena. Tip off is 5:00pm. For info and discounted tickets, visit www.scottishrocks.co.uk.
