Rocks v Birmingham: Davis Calls for Replay [return]

The SAMG Verve Scottish Rocks take on Birmingham Panthers Sunday at Braehead Arena and fans may have a sense of déjà vu.

The two teams played at the same venue just 7 days prior and the Rocks put forth one of their best games of the year in a 110-67 victory. Player/coach Sterling Davis will be looking for a repeat performance.

“Last Sunday was exactly what we’ve been looking for, and hopefully this Sunday will be more of the same,” said the Rocks boss who contributed 13 points of his own.

“We played good team defence, executed our offence as it’s designed, and we shot the ball well. That usually gets a win, which is ultimately all that counts.”

Despite the comfortable margin of victory, Davis called on his men to remain focused for the full 40 minutes.

“One of our biggest challenges this season has been to keep our focus for the whole game. We’ve lost a few games this year because of a few bad minutes and we have to eliminate those bad patches if we’re going to win the big games. It’s easy to slack off when you have a big lead, but the guys didn’t do that last week. They kept playing hard until the final buzzer. That’s what I want again on Sunday.”

Sunday’s game v. Birmingham Panthers tips off at 5:00pm (doors 4:00). Tickets and info at www.scottishrocks.co.uk.

CRUCIAL CLASH LOOMS
If the Rocks can win on Sunday, the fate of their season may ride on the following fixture on Wednesday 26 March when Milton Keynes Lions come to Braehead (7:30pm tip).

In hopes of gaining maximum fan support for the big game, special ticket prices of £5 for adults and £3 for children are on offer through midnight Monday. Tickets may be purchased via the Rocks web site at www.scottishrocks.co.uk.

In addition, all in attendance will be able to enter a free draw for the chance to come down onto the court at half-time. One lucky fan will have the unique opportunity to try one shot from half-court. If the ball goes in, the fan wins a brand new car which is being put up by Rocks sponsors Verve and SAMG.
