Future Rocks prepare for National Challenge!

The Rocks family continues to grow and develop every week thanks to the fantastic work of all involved within Lady Rocks, Glasgow Rocks Juniors and Glasgow Rocks Wheelchair! It’s been a thrilling season across the Rocks family with no less than 10 pieces of silverware won, and this weekend our U14 boys and U14 girls teams have the chance to add even more silverware!

Following an outstanding season in the basketballscotland West Regional Development League where both finished in 1st place and undefeated, the U14 boys and girls squads will now advance to the 2019 National Challenge competition! This is a one day event delivered by basketballscotland that looks to determine the top male and female team from across Scotland!

Ahead of the U14 Boys National Challenge this Saturday, U14 Boys Head Coach Peter Jackson had this to say- “We are very excited to be travelling to Dundee for this weekends National Challenge! We look forward to testing our team against the best U14 teams from across Scotland in what is always a fun and challenging basketball environment for our young players.”

And following on from the U14 Boys event, our U14 girls will compete on the Sunday. We also checked in with U14 Girls Head Coach Josh Anderson- “We’re delighted to have qualified for the 2019 National Challenge. As a club, the Lady Rocks are always looking for new ways to further develop our young players in preparation of the future and what better way to do this than at a national event with the top teams from across Scotland!”

Rocks fans, you can get involved in the the action this weekend by supporting our youth teams. Get along to the Dundee International Sports Centre on either Saturday 18th or Sunday 19th May. A full day of action-packed basketball begins each day from 9:30am with both teams competing in four matches.
